As someone diagnosed with OCD since childhood, I understand this struggle personally. The experience of being stuck in cycles of intrusive thoughts, repetitive rituals, and overwhelming worry that something terrible has or may happen can be devastating. Many of us turn to substances or behaviours like alcohol, drugs, spending, and pornography to cope with stress or numb emotional pain.
