High-performing adults, especially those who grew up in immigrant households or as “glass children”, often carry wounds that remain unseen. In childhood, survival required adapting to competing internal messages: "be less, take up no space" and at the very same time, "be more, prove your worth". These internalized voices, though once protective, often turn into patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and a relentless pressure to perform. Outwardly, you succeed. Inwardly, the cost is profound- an exhaustion that borders on emptiness, a quiet ache that is hard to name, and a disconnection not only from others, but from the Self.
